Alexandroupolis is the capital of Evros in East Macedonia and Thrace. Throughout history the city has been inhabited by various peoples and their culture. Alexandroupolis is still considered a “bridge” of cultures between East and West.
Enjoy the sights of our city starting from the lighthouse to the fountains on the Esplanade. From there enjoy a stroll to the main shopping strip at Leoforos Democratia where you can sit back and enjoy a coffee or a drink at one of the many cafes and bars before visiting the Ethnological Museum of Thrace.

Heading to Orestiada, a must see is the village of Traianoupolis with its well-known, natural spas. There, you can also visit the monastery of Panagia Kosmosotira that is of historical significance. The monastery is located at the top of a hill in Feres, the entry to the Evros Delta, one of the most important natural reserves in Europe, hosting a wide range of species of our natural environment. Moreover, you can visit the village of Dadia situated in the northwestern part of the Evros regional unit. Its forest is the easternmost route of migratory birds and a welcoming home to all kinds of wildlife. Afterwards stop by the Silk Museums of Soufli, before heading north to the village of Didymóteicho. Finally, you can visit Orestiada and its impressive fountain in the main square of the city.
